Whichever place you decide, you can have the smoothest transition possible by following the proper steps required by the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). We’ve laid out the most important steps for becoming a resident below.
- If you have a license issued from another state in the US, you can convert it to a Nebraska license. You can do so at the DMV and need to do so within 30 days of moving.

- Automotive Stonehenge - Head to Carhenge, which is just 10 miles from Alliance, to see the world famous Stonehenge in England recreated here in Nebraska...with silver-painted cars!
- Cairo - You don’t have to go all the way to Egypt to visit Cairo now that you live in Nebraska. This town commemorates the placed its named after with pyramid-shaped signs, name-inspired streets (such as “Nile”) and a one-humped camel built next to the town welcome sign.
NEBRASKA FUN FACTS
- It is illegal for children to burp in church. So make sure to put the cola down a couple hours before…
- As the state’s nickname implies, Nebraska truly loves its trees. This led to them starting the holiday - Arbor Day.
- A food item was invented in Nebraska during the Cold War meant to provide full nutritional needs in case of a disaster. What was the item? The “Nebraskit” was a large compressed biscuit, brick-like object made of corn, milo or wheat. Yum!
