Welcome Montana Movers
The Grizzly Bear State
Welcome to Montana, a state where there are more cattle than people! Suffice it to say…agriculture is large, and the steaks residents enjoy are even larger. This is a place of good food and adventurous activities, the birthplace of North America’s first luge run and producer of world-famous skiers. Relocate here, and you’ll find out why the celebrity Hannah Montana was proud to have this state be in her stage name!

Once you’ve decided on a town, you are ready to hammer out the details. Whichever place you decide, you can have the smoothest transition possible by following the proper steps required by the Montana Motor Vehicle Division (MVD). We’ve laid out the most important steps for becoming a resident below.
- If you have a license issued from another state in the US, you can convert it to a Montana license. You can do so at the MVD and need to do so within 60 days of moving.
- Make sure to get insurance in order to have it registered here in Montana. As prices may be different here compared to your old state, meet with an agent to get the best priced quotes!
- Make sure to register your vehicle within 60 days of establishing residency to avoid any fines. You can do this at your local Montana MVD. In this same time frame, make sure to let you old state know about your move. (It can save any potential drama later!)
- Your car doesn’t need to go through an emissions test & vehicle safety inspection by law. However, for your own safety, it’s still a good idea.
Montana Neighborhood Information for Moving Quotes
Weather: Due to Montana being large and having a variety of landscapes, the climate is quite varied. The eastern side is considered semi-arid, continental because it has cool, dry air that sweeps in from the west, paired with warmer air coming from the east. This contrasts to the western side of the state that has a modified northern Pacific coast climate. This means that summers are cooler and less windy with heavy fog in the winter time.
Over the years, it’s good to note, the climate has grown warmer and started melting glaciers in Glacier National Park. Temperatures continue to increase, so being mindful about your carbon imprint and smog emissions for this reason alone is very important.
Population & Cost of Living:-Though, area wise, Montana is quite large, there are only about 1.015 million people living here.
How much does it cost to live here? Cost of living is about 7% higher than the American average. And though it’s slightly higher, the household income is quite high at almost $36,000, when paired with the fact housing, on average, is only about 17% higher than the average American household. In addition, with more available energy resources (therefore cheaper) and low property taxes, there are many benefits that make for great living costs here in Montana.
Montana Employment Rate & Economy
At 4.7% as of Fall 2014, Montana has a very good unemployment rate compared to the rest of the nation. What jobs are the approximately 95% of employed folks working in?
The top industries in Montana include timber, mining (top items being mined are gold, silver, copper & coal), travel & tourism, services and agriculture (top products being both crops and livestock like wheat, sugar beets & cattle).
