Schools: According to The Ledger, the average of all the schools K-12 would receive a B. Based on area and individual school, of course, you will see a variety of ratings and programs.
There are several community colleges in Orange County such as South Orange County Community College, Coastlign Community College and Orange Coast College. They receive great praise, especially for using to transfer onto 4 year universities.
This leads us to University of California, Irvine, a school the OC is very proud to be home to. It was recently ranked 44th in the national among public universities and, for a school under the age of 50, it is considered #1 in the country by Times Higher Education.
Population: It’s a fairly diverse area at 44% caucasian, 34% Hispanic, 18% Asian and the rest consisting of folks who are African-American or of multiple ethnicities. The median age of this diverse bunch? 36 years old.
Politically, this area is more right wing than areas of California like San Francisco or San Jose. In every presidential election since 1996, voters in the OC voted in majority for the Republican candidate.

- The Wedge - This is the spot where Balboa Bay meets the Pacific Ocean, causing thrilling and (sometimes dangerous waves. This makes it the place where the best surfers hit the waves. You can try it out for yourself, or simply watch others do so!
- Knott’s Berry Farm - An exciting and family-friendly amusement park that is worth getting a season pass to. At Halloween time, the park is transformed into something terrifying known as Knott’s Scary Farm! This time of year the park is a little less little kid friendly - the 13 mazes you explore are truly terrifying.
- The South Coast Plaza Mall - If you enjoy shopping, whether window or in the stores themselves, here is your credit card swiping heaven. WIth everything from classic department store to ritzy boutiques, you can find just about whatever you are looking for here.
