Welcome Wyoming Movers!
The Cowboy State
Welcome to Wyoming, a place known for breathtaking landscapes and being on the forefront of gender equality. (It’s true; this state birthed the first female governor in the U.S. and has sent the most women to the House of Representatives compared to all other 49 states since 1989!) The small population of residents here are proud to boast of their small community feel, high number of Olympians and having most of Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming territory. Get to know this state more, and you may be surprised by all it has to offer!
Relocating - Becoming a Wyoming New Resident
The largest cities in Wyoming are the ones you’re most likely looking to relocate to. They are Cheyenne, Casper, Jackson, Laramie, Cody, Sheridan, Gillette, Rock Springs, Lander, Riverton, Evanston, Buffalo, Rawlins, Pinedale, Thermopolis, Douglas, Green River, Saratoga, Worland, Powell, Sundance, Wheatland, Afton, Kemmerer and Torrington.
Now, let’s get down to the transition details! The Wyoming Department of Transportation (DOT) has some important rules to follow, the top of which you can check out below:
- If you have a license issued from another state in the US, you can convert it to a Wyoming license. You can do so at the DOT, after you take a vision test and pay a licensing fee. Make sure to transfer it within 1 year!
- Georgia
- Massachusetts
- Michigan
- Tennessee
- Wisconsin
- Prices are likely to be different here compared to your old state, meet with a Wyoming agent to get the best priced quotes! As insurance is required anyhow, it’s good to look at this now.
- Make sure to register your vehicle soon after establishing residency. You can do this registration at your local Wyoming DOT.
- Your car is not legally required to go through an emissions or safety inspection, however, for environmental & public safety reasons, it is still recommended.
Wyoming Neighborhood Information for Wyoming Moving Quotes and Wyoming Moving Companies
Weather:-The climate of mountainous Wyoming is mostly semi-arid and continental. Because of sweeping winds and many high elevations, weather here is much more extreme and involves a lot more wind than most of America. Summer nights are warm, but temperatures drop rapidly after the sun goes down.
The same winds affect Wyoming winters. Winters range from cold to mild because warm winds bring higher temperatures into the cold season. The level of snow or precipitation varies dramatically based on your specific city, the main factor being the level of elevation. (The higher? The higher level of precipitation!)
Severe weather to look out for includes some thunderstorms and tornadoes. It is important to prepare yourself, your family and your new home for these potential events.
Population & Cost of Living:-At 582,000 residents, Wyoming has the lowest population of all the states in America, which can offer a lot of benefits (and peace and quiet!) One of these benefits? An incredibly low crime rate. When many people know their neighbors, it tends to make respect go up and crime go down.
The cost of living here in Wyoming is nearly equal to the national average; it’s only 4% higher as of 2014. Homes here are more than one might expect for such a small population. The median home cost for the entire state is about $204,100.
Though cost of living is slightly more expensive, there are some factors to keep in mind. The average student here (in public schools) gets nearly $19,000 spent on them per year versus the U.S. average of $12,435. The opportunity for jobs may also contribute because the unemployment rate is low and available positions only continue to grow.
Wyoming Employment Rate & Economy
As of 2014, the unemployment rate in Wyoming was very low at 3.6%. Not only that, jobs are continuing to grow. There was a nearly 3% increase in jobs over the last year! Here’s an important question…where is it that jobs are opening up?
The mineral extraction industry is massive, the extraction of uranium and coal in particular. In 2010, Wyoming produced nearly half of America’s supply alone! The other top industries include travel & tourism and agriculture (cattle & sheep being the top products.)
WYOMING ATTRACTIONS YOU'LL WANT TO EXPERIENCE

FUN WYOMING FACTS

- It is illegal to drink & mine at the same time here...a very wise and appropriate law!
