Relocating to PA - Being a Pennsylvania New Resident

Pennsylvania’s largest cities include Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Erie, Allentown, York, Scranton, Bethlehem, Reading, Gettysburg, Centralia, West Chester, State College, Williamsport, New Hope, Altoona, Easton, Carlisle, Wikes-Barre and Doylestown. Each of them have their own personality, so it’s worth investigating what each has to offer. Whichever place you relocate to, you’ll want to follow the following steps to smoothly transition into becoming a resident.
If you have a license issued from another state in the US, you have 60 days to surrender it and get a Pennsylvania license. What does this entail?
    • Going to your local PennDOT with the appropriate paperwork.
    • Submitting yourself to a vision test
    .
  • Within 20 days of becoming a resident, make sure to register your vehicle with PennDOT.
You will be asked to show car insurance upon registration, so bring it with you to the PennDOT. If you have out-of-state insurance unable to do business here, check out a Pennsylvania insurance agent.
Most vehicles in this state must go through an annual emissions inspection every year in order to legally drive.
